After a week like that, you need to take a deep breath.
NetsGC dropped two games in week 11, losing 72-53 to Wizards District Gaming and 80-51 to Grizz Gaming, sending the team down the standings and making week 12’s games all the more important for the team’s final playoff push.
In Friday’s opener, NetsGC moved Lav to shooting guard and put NateKahl on a slashing defender at small forward. Despite 17 points, six assists, and the above nutmeg from Wavy.zay, NetsGC ran into a Wizards District Gaming team playing arguably its best game of the season. NetsGC, by contrast, went cold, hitting just 2 of 17 three-pointers, while Wizards DG shot 10-19 beyond the arc, keyed by 27 points from ReeseDaGod and 16 more from DemonJT.
NetsGC’s second Friday night game, against Grizz Gaming, was originally scheduled for Thursday, but weather and flight issues grounded the Grizz for a day, pushing the game to Friday. NateKahl, playing at the slashing defender once again, had no flight issues of his own, finishing with 19 points. Lav also chipped in 19 points, reprising his start at shooting guard, although NetsGC went cold in the second half, scoring just 18 points.
The season is by no means lost. The playoff picture is complex enough that a week 12 NetsGC sweep, coupled with slips by two of the Magic, Pacers, or T-Wolves could see NetsGC into the playoffs in the team’s first year in the league. Winning both games is imperative. The first step, however, is taking a deep, deep breath.
On the Horizon: The final week of the regular season, week 12 brings with it two must-win games for NetsGC. The team has a Friday doubleheader against playoff hopefuls Pacers Gaming (8-6), who are also coming off two losses in week 11, and Mavs Gaming (11-4), who have already clinched a playoff berth.
