NetsGC Opens Regular Season 2-0

Dressed in new Qatar Airways-sponsored uniforms, NetsGC got off to a hot start, going 2-0 in its first NBA 2K League regular-season action.

The team played a doubleheader on Friday, April 12, starting with a 74-66 win over Kings Guard Gaming. NetsGC jumped to a 20-7 lead after the first quarter and scored a season-high 47 points in the first-half, keyed by rookie point guard Wavy.zay’s 24-points on 10-12 shooting from the field. As a team, NetsGC shot 29-43 (67%) from the field and dished out 21 assists. Second-round pick Shuttles made his season debut, pacing the team at power forward in both rebounds (9) and assists (8). NateKahl, playing on a lockdown defender build at shooting guard, disrupted Kings Guard’s offense early, forcing Kings Guard point guard BP into four turnovers. NateKahl also scored 19 points on 7-8 shooting, while fellow expansion draft selection oShockey added 16 points in the wire-to-wire victory.

In the Friday nightcap, NetsGC played Magic Gaming in a rematch of the team’s lone loss in THE TIPOFF Tournament. This time around, NetsGC came out on top, winning 61-58 despite trailing by eight at the end of the first quarter. Shuttles played a crucial role in the team’s win, recording a game-high five steals, as NetsGC capitalized on Magic Gaming’s 11 turnovers to vault ahead with a 12-0 run to end the third quarter. The team shot 66% from the field and hit four three-pointers in the second half as NateKahl and Lav, playing as the team’s secondary ball handler at small forward, led Nets GC with 16 points apiece. oShockey led the team in rebounds (8) and scored four points in the final minute of the fourth quarter to secure the win.

After a week two bye, NetsGC will face Raptors Uprising GC (0-2) at 9 p.m. on Thursday, April 25, and Blazer5 Gaming (0-1) at 9 p.m. on Friday, April 26.
