Weekly Recap: NetsGC Falls to Pacers Gaming at THE TICKET

As far as elimination goes, bowing out at the hands of the eventual runners-up isn’t such a bad way to go.

NetsGC fell to Pacers Gaming 61-50 in the first round of THE TICKET Tournament in Orlando. Wavy.zay paced NetsGC with 19 points and Lav chipped in nine assists. Shuttles turned in a dominant performance in his return to Orlando, as he finished with 17 points and 15 rebounds in a start at center. The team also held Pacers Gaming star Ramo to just 16 points, his second-lowest total of the tournament.

The team did pick up one win of sorts over the weekend. Several NBA 2K League pros, including NetsGC’s NateKahl and Lav, took on several content creators invited to the tournament. All in good fun, the NetsGC players and the NBA 2K League pros as a whole lived up to their profession, taking the friendly more than comfortably.

THE TICKET as a whole saw some new records. Warriors Gaming Squad, the tournament’s fifth seed, took home the banner for the second consecutive tournament, having emerged victorious from THE TURN in Las Vegas. The team captured the title with a 59-49 win over Pacers Gaming in the Saturday final. Small forward Alex “BSmoove” Reese was named tournament MVP after averaging 17.5 points and 4.3 assists per game.

The tournament featured several notable upsets. Heat Check Gaming, originally the tournament’s No. 19 seed, defeated top seed Blazer5 Gaming in the first round. Knicks Gaming, the No. 18 seed, defeated Mavs Gaming and Cavs Legion GC in remarkable fashion en route to a semifinals exit at the hands of Pacers Gaming. No. 13 seed Raptors Uprising GC defeated No. 4 seed Celtics Crossover Gaming in round one before coming a BSmoove-buzzer shy of eliminating Warriors Gaming.
