Week 3 Recap: NetsGC Drops Two Tough Games

As the old adage goes, sometimes it’s a team win, and sometimes it’s a team loss. NetsGC now has two of each, following up a 2-0 week-one effort with tough losses to Raptors Uprising GC (2-2) and Blazer5 Gaming (4-1), both 2018 playoff teams, after a bye in week two.

Raptors Uprising 54, NetsGC 42

On Thursday night, NetsGC took on a Raptors Uprising GC squad coming off a Wednesday win over T-Wolves Gaming. NetsGC started slowly, scoring just 14 points in the first half and committing 10 turnovers in the first three quarters. The team rebounded in the second half, outscoring Raptors Uprising by six points and not turning the ball over in the fourth quarter, but the rally fell short as the team took home its first defeat of the season. Wavy.zay led the way for NetsGC, finishing one assist shy of a double-double and chipping in four steals, while Lav led the team with 14 points.

Blazer5 Gaming 70, NetsGC 63

In the penultimate game of the week, NetsGC fell to Blazer5 Gaming—last year’s best regular-season team—in a nail-biter. NetsGC shot 27-42 from the field, keyed by a 17-point, 10-assist double-double from Wavy.zay and a 10-point effort from oShockey. The team drew within two points with just over a minute remaining, but Blazer5 Gaming hit two late three-pointers to seal its fourth win of the season. Mama Im Dat Man led Blazer5 Gaming with 24 points as NetsGC held week 2 player of the week OneWildWalnut to a season-low six points on three attempts from the field.
