The NBA 2K League playoffs aren’t here yet, but it sure feels like playoff time.

NetsGC enters the penultimate week of the regular season sitting at 7-5, half a game back of a playoff spot. The team has two big games in week 11, going up against Grizz Gaming (6-7) and Wizards District Gaming (5-7). They’ll square off against the Grizz at 6 pm EST on Thursday, July 11, and against Wizards District on Friday, July 12, again at 6 pm EST.

Grizz Gaming has shown serious improvement from a slow start to the year, highlighted by a win over 76ers GC in week 10. Keyed by point guard Vandi and center AuthenticAfrican, the Grizz have a strong pick-and-roll combo as well as a positive point differential. The pick-and-roll defense of NateKahl and Shuttles, as well as the scoring of Lav, will be crucial to NetsGC’s gameplan.
Then, on Friday, it’ll be the Wizards, who’ve improved to 5-7 despite starting the season just 0-4. Small forward ReeseDaGod has jumped up to seventh place in the league in points per game, with 17.8 (Grizz Gaming’s Vandi is just 0.2 points below him), while center Gilly is averaging a double-double during the regular season. NetsGC’s frontcourt will be tasked with duo, as well as star Wizards DG big man Dayfri.
NetsGC earned a huge sweep over playoff hopefuls Heat Check Gaming and Bucks Gaming in week nine. If the team can replicate that 2-0 effort in week 11, they’ll have a 9-5 record, and with it an inside track to playoff position. A one-one split will lead to an 8-6 record, in which case NetsGC’s two week 12 games will become all the more important.
The team could use a helping hand from Celtics Crossover Gaming (8-5) against Magic Gaming (8-5), as the two teams, ahead of NetsGC in the standings by just half a game, have a crucial week 11 duel on Friday. NetsGC holds the head-to-head tiebreaker against Magic Gaming by virtue of a win in week one. Also important is Pacers Gaming (8-4), with four games left on their tough schedule. Their final, and perhaps most important game? NetsGC, on the final night of the regular season.
There are still two weeks to go until the playoffs. The tension of the playoffs, however, already seems to have begun.
