Week 8 Preview: Playoff Tensions Rise as NetsGC Takes on 76ers GC

To be the best, you have to beat the best.

While 76ers GC hasn’t been stellar in the regular season this year, the team is one of the most successful franchises in league history. The 76ers have racked up two consecutive wins in THE TIPOFF, finished as the No. 2 overall playoff seed with a 10-4 record last year, and have made the Finals of both in-season tournaments this year.

NetsGC knows it hasn’t won anything just yet. Coming off a bye week, the team sits 5-4, currently in seventh place and tied in the standings with 76ers GC, who are also 5-4. 76ers GC enters week eight with a 13-5 overall record on the year and is coming off a monumental defeat of previously undefeated Mavs Gaming (10-1).

The matchup is a clash between two of the hottest scorers in the league. For 76ers GC, sharpshooter ZDS exploded for 39 points in the win over Mavs Gaming, falling just three points short of the 2019 season scoring record. Don’t sleep on star point guard Radiant, either; NateKahl and Shuttles will have their hands full against 76ers GC’s pick-and-roll attack.

NetsGC, meanwhile, is riding the hot hand of Lav, who’s averaging 17 points and 11 assists per game since moving to point guard. That move to point guard has proved critical to NetsGC’s recent three-game run. After a first-round exit at THE TURN, coach Ivan “OGKINGCURT” Curtiss swapped Lav and Wavy.zay in the starting lineup, with Lav heading to the one and leading scorer Wavy.zay moving to small forward. NetsGC is 3-0 since the change.

The playoff implications are ramping up for this week-eight draw. At 5-4, both squads lead a cluster of nine teams separated by just one game, with the playoffs drawing nearer and nearer. NetsGC has the chance to earn a little separation from the pack and pick up a signature win in its first season. More practically, a win ensures a top-four seed in THE TICKET, whose seeding is determined by team performance in weeks 5-8.

NetsGC vs. 76ers GC tips off at 6 pm EST Wednesday night on the NBA 2K League Twitch and YouTube channels.
