Three Things: NetsGC Check into Heartbreak Hotel

By Kristian Cuaresma

Here are three things to highlight from NetsGC 3-2 loss to Knicks Gaming:

Game 1: Knicks Gaming win 23-13
Game 2: Knicks Gaming win 23-19
Game 3: NetsGC win 22-16
Game 4: NetsGC win 21-18
Game 5: Knicks Gaming win 23-19

1 – Reliving a Nightmare

One night before their matchup against Knicks Gaming, NetsGC was on the wrong side of a reverse sweep when they lost 3-2 to 76ers GC. Against New York, Brooklyn fell into an early 2-0 hole and was on the verge of dropping its sixth consecutive game. With the final playoff spot hanging in the balance, NetsGC fought their way back and forced a winner-take-all fifth game. Jyden scored 21 total points during the comeback, while Steez and Streetz combined for 22 points and three steals. Unfortunately, NetsGC was unable to pull off their own reverse sweep and lost game five 23-19. A poetic finish was within reach only for it to disappear in the final moments of the evening.

2 – A Shining Star

Over three weeks ago, Radiant was putting the finishing touches on his tenure with Pistons GT. With rumors swirling on social media that personalities clashed in Detroit, a potential trade seemed inevitable. In dramatic fashion, Radiant led Pistons GT on a surprise 3v3 run in THE SWITCH all the way to the finals. Last week, Knicks Gaming benefitted from the momentum Radiant had carried over from his former team. The point guard averaged 13.0 points, 2.8 assists, on 93 percent shooting against NetsGC. Radiant finished the evening making 27 of his 29 shots.

3 – Watching the Scoreboard

With the loss, NetsGC trails Knicks Gaming for the final playoff spot by two points. Both teams have two games remaining, with NetsGC facing DUX Infinitos and Mavs Gaming next week, and Knicks Gaming playing Pacers Gaming and Kings Guard Gaming. NetsGC must catch up in points and finish with a better individual record than Knicks Gaming. Currently, Brooklyn is 35-36 and New York is 37-34.

Charlotte is ahead of Brooklyn by one point but also has one additional game left on its schedule. Hornets Venom GT is 33-33 and will face Celtics Crossover Gaming, Pacers Gaming, and Kings Guard Gaming to close out the 3v3 season.
