For NetsGC fans, this matchup was circled on their calendar because of Doc’s homecoming. It was supposed to be a final tune-up before the postseason intertwined with a subplot of Jyden and Doc facing their former teams for the first time. After last night’s tough loss to T-Wolves Gaming, NetsGC’s playoff hopes no longer exist and the team must fight through THE TICKET, the league’s annual play-in tournament. Instead of using this game as a warm-up for their playoff run, Brooklyn is now scrambling to patch its season together before time runs out.
Cavs Legion GC is on a four-game win streak fueled by their newest acquisition in superstar center OneWildWalnut. After a series of trades that sparked criticism from analysts, Cavs Legion GC’s vision of a competitive and scrappy team has come to fruition. Like in other sports, the best time to get hot is headed into the playoffs, and Cavs Legion GC has more momentum than any other participant locked into THE TICKET.
Cavs Legion GC Expected Lineup
PG: ANTOINE
SG: Doc
SF: Fakiee
PF: DLAW
C: OneWildWalnut
Players to Watch
OneWildWalnut – 22.8 points, 10.0 rebounds, 2.0 steals, 1.0 blocks, 85% field-goal
Since winning the league’s inaugural MVP award, many things have changed for OneWildWalnut. The talented center was traded three times and is in danger of missing the playoffs for the first time in his career. After a failed reunion with Mama Im Dat Man in Sacramento, OneWildWalnut was unexpectedly moved to Cleveland. Instead of going through the motions in the final stretch of the season, OneWildWalnut reminded everyone why he is still one of the best players in the world. Cavs Legion GC has transformed from a bottom-feeder into a wildcard to win THE TICKET.
Doc – 17.8 points, 3.6 assists, 0.8 steals, 51% field-goal, 49% three-point
Despite not playing two full seasons with the team, Doc is arguably the most prolific shooting guard to play for NetsGC. In his short tenure with Cavs Legion GC, he has improved his ball security and maintained his scoring output. He did not get a chance to build chemistry with the team’s former point guard Bash but has fit perfectly next to ANTOINE.
Storylines
Outside of the game’s result, fans will be focused on the matchup between Jyden and Doc. Until they are possibly moved to another team, the two guards will be linked to each other as analysts attempt to justify which team won the trade. Regardless of the outcome, it should be a fun duel between two young players trying to reinvent their reputation and jumpstart their career.
Tonight’s contest also marks the first time Steez and OneWildWalnut have played each other since they were teammates last season on 76ers GC. The frontcourt duo led Philadelphia to a 16-12 record and a playoff spot before being eliminated by NetsGC in the first round of the playoffs.
