SLAM OPEN Bracket Play – Three Wins Away

By Kristian Cuaresma

The previous NBA 2K League tournament champions have a history of getting hot at the right time. For NetsGC, that moment could be now after winning four straight games. NetsGC’s longest winning streak of the season has the team three wins away from earning their first tournament crown.

Brooklyn began bracket play with a 3-2 victory over Mavs Gaming. Led by Streetz’s season-high 14 points, NetsGC took the opening game of the best-of-five series. Mavs Gaming won the next two games and put NetsGC on the brink of falling to the lower bracket. Streetz and Steez put on a defensive masterclass in game four to force a final match. In game five, NetsGC rookie superstar Greens scored 15 points and hit the game-winner.

Against Wizards District Gaming, NetsGC played their most complete series. Despite a close third game, NetsGC earned their first series sweep of the 2023 season. Wizards DG had not been swept since their first game of the year on March 9. NetsGC’s balanced offense made the league’s highlight reels but it was their strong defense that did the heavy lifting. Brooklyn forced Washington into six turnovers in the best-of-five series.

THIS WEEK

Expected Lineup (Glitchy)

PG: Mxriok

Lock: PleaseGreenn

Forward: OhDonn

After finishing in the top seven of the 2023 NBA 2K League 3v3 Closed Qualifiers, Glitchy earned a spot in bracket play of the SLAM OPEN. However, it did not come easy for the amateur team as they dropped their opening round matchup to Gamers First Longhorns. While they eventually fought their way through the lower bracket, Glitchy’s slow start meant they would play the some of the best pro teams in the NBA 2K League.

Glitchy later proved their early struggles were an outlier. The trio pulled off the shocking upset against number two ranked DUX Infinitos. Glitchy’s follow-up performance was a 3-2 win over Raptors Uprising GC. They are the only amateur team remaining in the upper bracket entering in-person play this week.
