NetsGC has announced the protection of three players for the 2021 NBA 2K League Season, Choc, Randomz, and Jin.
Brooklyn forfeited a 2021 fourth-round pick in exchange of retaining three players. Choc, Randomz and Jin are now ineligible to be drafted in the upcoming NBA 2K League expansion draft.
Choc, the ninth overall selection in the 2020 NBA 2K League draft, averaged 29 points and 8.9 assists per game throughout all competitions this season, and led the league with 9.8 assists per contest in the regular season. The rookie point guard put together perhaps the most exciting debut campaign of any player in the league this year, knocking down multiple game-winning shots and earning both Week Five Player of the Week honors and the league’s Player of the Month for June.
NetsGC’s other protected rookie, Randomz, spent most of his time as a lockdown defender in this year’s lineup. The second-round pick was the defensive leader of Brooklyn’s roster, notching 2.3 steals per game while adding 11.3 points per game during the regular season, tournaments, and playoffs.
Jin spent this past season with finalists Warriors Gaming Squad and was acquired by NetsGC on Sept. 18. He is a three-year league veteran who has mostly spent his time on the court at power forward, but has the versatility to play other positions. Jin averaged 5.8 points per game, 4.2 rebounds per game,1.5 assists per game and 1.3 steals per game while hitting almost half of his 3-point attempts during the last regular season, and started all nine games of the Warriors’ playoff run last month.
All 23 NBA 2K League teams, including NetsGC, will have the option to retain additional players (for a total of four) at the cost of additional 2021 draft picks, during a later retainment period that has yet to be announced.
