NetsGC Exchange Point Guards With Hornets Venom GT

By Kristian Cuaresma

NetsGC has agreed to trade Michael “Tate” Tate to Hornets Venom GT for Jahaad “King Haad” Thomas. The move is an exchange of the last two point guards taken in the 2022 NBA 2K League Draft with Tate selected 46th overall and King Haad drafted at 48th overall.

In five games during group play of THE TIPOFF, King Haad averaged 12.0 points, 5.6 assists while shooting 50 percent from the perimeter. While Hornets Venom GT was unable to advance to bracket play, King Haad played an instrumental role in the team’s lone victory. In what was the best game of his young career, he finished with 22 points and five assists on 7–of-11 shooting. During THE SLAM 3v3 bracket round, the rookie made the most of his stage debut, averaging nine points and four assists in a shocking series win over 76ers GC.

NetsGC and Hornets Venom GT last played each other on April 7 during opening week of THE TIPOFF. In that contest, King Haad had nine points and five assists while shooting 43 percent in a losing effort. With both teams being in different groups for THE TURN, their next potential matchup could be on stage in Indianapolis from June 8-11.

This is the first transaction both teams have made during the 2022 season. Every team has a cap of ten transactions during the 2022 trade window. King Haad and Tate are expected to make their debut for opening night of THE TURN.
