NetsGC made the first move in building its roster for the 2021 season this week by acquiring Jin and a 2021 third-round draft pick from Warriors Gaming Squad in exchange for Shuttles and a 2021 third-round selection.
Jin, a three-year league veteran, averaged 5.8 points per game, 4.2 rebounds per game,1.5 assists per game and 1.3 steals per game on just over 52% shooting from the field and 49.2% shooting from three during the 2020 NBA 2K League season, in which he helped Warriors Gaming Squad reach the NBA 2K League Finals. During the most recent playoff games, Jin upped his efficiency numbers with a 60% shooting clip in addition to 56.7% shooting from deep in the span of nine games.
The Laurel, Maryland native has reached the playoffs in all three years of his career, first with Wizards District Gaming in 2018, then with the Warriors the following two seasons. He was originally drafted to Washington, D.C. in the fourth round of the inaugural entry draft. He then was selected in the third round of the 2019 draft by the Warriors and was retained by the team for his third season.
Shuttles was a member of NetsGC for two seasons prior to this week’s trade. Brooklyn selected the center in the second round of the 2019 NBA 2K League Draft and protected him entering the 2020 season. He finished top-five in the league in rebounding with 13.6 boards per game during the past regular season, and helped NetsGC reach its first-ever playoff appearance in franchise history.
Both draft picks included in the deal were originally owned by the teams that traded them.
Per league rules, NetsGC is allowed to trade just one more asset, whether player or draft pick, until the current trade window closes on Friday, Sept. 18 at 5 p.m. ET.
