BROOKLYN (Feb. 22, 2020) – NetsGC, the NBA 2K League affiliate of the Brooklyn Nets, selected three elite players in the 2020 NBA 2K League Draft at Terminal 5 in New York City to complete their roster for the 2020 NBA 2K League season. With the ninth overall pick in the first round, NetsGC selected Josh “Choc” Humphries, a point guard out of Tampa, FL.
“I was excited to hear my name called and I’m locked in and ready to get to Brooklyn,” said Humphries. “We’re going to win and surprise a lot of people, especially when they see me go to point guard. The second the season tips off they’re going to learn we’re a force to reckon with.”
In the second round of the draft, Brooklyn-native Roc Nation recording artist, Casanova, took to the stage to announce NetsGC had selected Randomz as the 29th overall pick. This is the first year the NBA 2K League has allowed guest pickers to announce individual teams’ draft selections.

“We have a lot to be excited about with this year’s team and are eager to get to work,” said Ivan Curtiss, NetsGC Head Coach and General Manager. “Coming off our inaugural season with an experienced core group in place, and rounding out our team with the three key players picked up in tonight’s draft, has put NetsGC in the best position to compete for the top spot in the league.”
NetsGC retained two players for season three of the NBA 2K League – point guard Isiah “Wavy” Hancock, and power forward Aziz “Shuttles” Salem. Wavy was NetsGC’s first round pick in the 2019 NBA 2K League Draft and averaged 15.1 PPG and 5.8 APG in 16 starts during the 2019 season. Shuttles was NetsGC’s second round pick in the 2019 NBA 2K League Draft and averaged 7.9 PPG, 7.2 RPG, and 2.9 APG in 16 starts during the 2019 season.
Additionally, in October 2019 NetsGC acquired shooting guard Randolph “Rando” Moreno from Hawks Talon GC in exchange for the 16thoverall pick in the 2020 NBA 2K League Draft. Rando, a Brooklyn-native, was selected by Hawks Talon GC in the second round of the 2019 NBA 2K League Draft and averaged 14.7 PPG, 4.1 APG, and 1.0 SPG in 15 starts for Hawks Talon GC last season.
NetsGC also made staffing changes in the offseason by naming Wael Ankouni as Assistant General Manager of the team. Ankouni previously served as NetsGC’s social media coordinator during the 2019 season.
The players in today’s draft were selected from a pool of 229 draftees, which consisted of 147 new players who were selected by the league through the NBA 2K League Combine, 22 players from the 11 team-hosted Pro-Am tournaments, five players from the league’s first European Invitational, five players from the league’s second Asia-Pacific (APAC) Invitational, and 50 unretained players from the 2019 season. With the addition of the two expansion teams, 138 players will compete in the 2020 NBA 2K League season. During the offseason, 70 players who competed in the 2019 season were retained, leaving 68 roster spots available.
