Choc named NBA 2K League Player of the Week for Week Three

The team’s first sweep of the season and a dramatic buzzer beater set the stage for NBA 2K League experts and fans to take care of the rest.

NetsGC’s Josh ‘Choc’ Humphries has officially been named Player of the Week for week three of the NBA 2K League. The award is decided by vote, with half accounted for by NBA 2K League teams and officials, and the other half by fans on social media.

Last week, Choc averaged 34.5 points, 12.8 assists while shooting 51 percent from the field (49 percent from three) to lead his team to a 3-1 record against Jazz Gaming and 76ers GC. The point guard had originally set out to lead the league once again in assists, but with Brooklyn moving back to its double lock lineup in week three, Choc turned into a flamethrower type of shooter. Previously, Choc had averaged 4.9 made threes a game. In Brooklyn’s four games last week, Choc averaged 8.3 made threes while seeing a slight increase in his efficiency (48 percent prior to week three). Despite the added scoring responsibilities, Choc continued to dish out dimes, finishing just one assist shy of extending his streak with at least 10 assists to 11 games.

In only his sophomore year, Choc is no stranger to individual accolades.  This is the second time he has won the award, previously being honored last season in week five. Nearly a year ago, he was also named Player of the Month.

Choc currently leads the league in assists (13.5) and is fourth in scoring (29.5). He can be next seen on the virtual hardwood against the reigning champions Wizards DG on June 16 at 9:00 p.m. (EST).
