Bracket Play Recap – SLAM OPEN

In the spirit of March Madness, NetsGC made a Cinderella run to the upper bracket finals in the SLAM OPEN, the first 3v3 tournament of the NBA 2K League season. During their underdog run to the finals, NetsGC faced Glitchy, T-Wolves Gaming and Pistons GT.
NetsGC defeat Glitchy 3-2
Player of the Series: Greens (Guard)
Series Average: 11.6 points, 78.7% FG, 54.5% 3PT
It was a back-and-forth series between Brooklyn’s 2K team and Glitchy, a team compiled of avid 2K players. NetsGC stumbled out of the gate in a tight game one, falling 23-20. However, the team was quick to respond, coming out with victories in games two and three. Glitchy would comeback with a vengeance, winning game four 21-15 to force a winner take-all game five. It was ultimately returning veteran Steez who was the difference maker in the deciding game, hitting the game-winner for a 21-18 victory as NetsGC advanced to the next round in the upper bracket.
NetsGC defeat T-Wolves Gaming 3-1
Player of the Series: Greens
Series Average: 12.5 points, 3.3 assists, 75.8% FG, 54.5% 3PT
The battle to go to the upper bracket finals proved to be the most nail-biting series of the early season for NetsGC. All four games were decided by 3 points or fewer, with NetsGC utilizing clutch shooting down the stretch. Steez once again stepped up in the biggest moments, nailing a game winning three to give NetsGC a 2-1 series lead. Game four was a similar story as more clutch buckets punched NetsGC’s ticket to the upper bracket finals, winning 22-20.
NetsGC lose to Pistons GT 3-0
Player of the Series: Bagmotion
Series Average: 6.6 points, 2.0 assists, 88.9% FG, 100% 3PT
Pistons GT jumped out to an early series lead in the blink of an eye, winning game one of the upper bracket finals 22-11. Pistons GT was led by Ant and Bagmotion to spark their first win. NetsGC hung strong in games two and three, but ultimately came up short. Brooklyn’s 2K team would be swept and move on to the lower bracket finals in a rematch with T-Wolves Gaming.
NetsGC lose to T-Wolves Gaming 3-0
Player of the Series: TBShiftay
In a rematch of the upper bracket semi-finals, NetsGC once again faced off against T-Wolves gaming with a spot to THE SLAM Finals on the line. Much like the previous matchup, all games were decided by the most narrow of margins with all three games going down to the wire. It was ultimately stout defense late in games that led T-Wolves gaming to a three-game sweep to advance to the tournament finals.
